Testimonials

I met Tom at Grace Church, and was introduced to him by a fellow mission pastor.  I came to know him personally and planned some small ministry chores with him for some time.  At the end of 2012 Tom and I visited Myanmar (Burma) together. We had some small miracles on the way. One day before leaving for Chin State we were visiting in Kalaymyo to buy supplies. At one point We entered in to a store while the store owner was telling her last night’s dream to her employees about the white guy visiting her store. At the moment Tom and I entered the store, she and her employees saw Tom and screamed out loud in laughing as her dream had come true.

The Sin-Hong hotel, where we lodged in Kalaymyo had a signboard on the wall. The sign read “You cannot go beyond nine miles from here” which is the border of Chin State. They made it very clear we were not to enter Chin State. Customs followed us to the hotel and asked us many questions.   Everywhere we went, customs took Toms papers and checked him because they did not know how to handle him. We got entry permission to Chin State from the party who just signed peace agreement with the government two days ago. Again, the customs agents kept checking Tom and didn’t know how to read this agreement because it had never been done before. Tom was to be the first foreigner allowed access to Chin State after this peace agreement.

The next day at early morning we went to Chin State by car. We stopped on a high mountain the opposite side where the first missionary to the hills had started his mission. Tom was amazed by the beautiful hills and rivers. The leading road was narrower by and by with dust and mud. Someone said a joke saying that ‘this is the end of the world’ and it did look like what he means! It took us the whole day to get to the Pinelle Children Home in Thantlang, Chin State.

Tom went back home after checking many orphanages in the region as well as in Yangon. He opened a fund raising account at Morgan Country Community Foundation. When I got back home, the next month, he told me about his vision and asked me to join him. Occasionally I got mail about donors’ information from the foundation. I found out that he had raised a lot of money from his family, relatives, businesses, churches and from other states.  One thing that I cannot forget is a very big check from his aunt – Linda and Larry. I knew Larry has been fighting cancer for some time. I even visited them before I met Tom. I hunt and shoot gun with Tom and his brothers. I come to realize that they are wonderful Christian families dedicated to mission. I wanted to work with him more and more.

Tom works very hard to feed many kids. He added one field after another. He has a big commitment in his ministry. He sent all the money we got from the foundation. I trusted him and his ministry. He got a blessing soul partner from the Philippines and I hope he is energized one more step. Together with my family, we are determined to support him as much as we could for this life changing ministry.

God gave Solomon a wise and discerning heart (1 Kings 3:12)  So when it comes to giving I pray for the same gift.  A donation to Standing With Orphans is a wise and discerning act of love.   Founded by my friends ZaBik Bualteng and Tom Whitley this ministry serves Burmese orphans who live in poverty.  Ninety-eight cents of every dollar goes directly to the children in the form of food (rice), mosquito netting and upgraded sanitary facilities.  Won’t you consider becoming a regular donor to these children?

My name is Peter Bawi Ceu Thawng. God blesses me with a wonderful wife and we have four children.

We started Nations Hope Gods Children Home with 9 kids on May 27th 2009. At that time we did not have any donor that I had to work another job while taking care of these kids. We survived with that little income and love gift from some friends. We were really struggling. We overcome all those hardship because of the faith we have with God and believe that He wanted us to do this as well as the love we have with orphans. We are happy even though we are barely survived.

We rent a property. Tom visited and met with us in that property and thanks God that he sent foods and clothing since then which carried away many of our burden. We are not worried about foods now! We are repairing and upgrading our residence with Tom’s help and now we have some improvement as well. You are the ones who wipe tear away from orphans’ eyes, who give hope to orphans and who are standing with orphans. Thank you very much for your help. May our God bless you abundantly!

With love in Christ,

Brief Testimony of Hope Orphanage
My name is Michael Biak Cunglian. I am 37 years old. I was born in a Christian family in May 29, 1980 at Hmunpi village Chin state. My denomination is Baptist Church. Our family resided to Kalaymyo for our education higher in 1995. I was serving God as lecturer in Bible College and visiting pastor to my native village.
In Feb.10, 2010 I was married with godly woman Hannah Van Nei Sung. I have two children now.
In 2012, we established our Family Ministry called Hope Orphans with 5 homeless children at Kalaymyo with a handful rice provided by some local Christian families. Hope is now the home for 14 orphans from very diverse culture and religious backgrounds living happily and harmonically together as a family and receiving all the love that children always should have.
Our orphans care ministry is using rented property until today. We moved four houses now. We would like a place we could call our Home of Hope. This is our earnest prayer and trust that the Lord to supply all our needs, not on demand, but in His own good time.
As we have no sponsor, we face a lot of problem for food, we have a lot of debt for rice, and education and health. With my small salary we managed all we need. My wife too weaving the loom, making cultural dress for our surviving. As our children have been growing up in physically and uplifting education every year, we are insufficient with our small income to manage all we need. We bought the rice postpaid system, since we have no money.  But we are the happiest family in this situation.
In 2015, Pastor Daniel (founder of Bethel orphanage) introduced me with Tom (founder of SWO), through helping of him, the children sleep well in the mosquito net safely and study well under solar panel light. And we don’t worry about rice. When we receive the rice from SWO, one of our children often say,” wow…we are rich now”. And one replied “we have no home yet, we need to pray for home. Then God will answer our prayer through Uncle Tom.” We have a big thank to Tom for changing our lives better.
We really thank God for sending us a godly man to meet our daily need. Tom is the one Hero for Hope orphans.
In His holy service,
Michael B. Cunglian
