“Big” Hope Project

The Holy Bible Project:

Christ Cross Chin State
Cross placed on mountain road by Christians in Chin State

At Standing With Orphans, we are not only supporting  the children with food, and clothing. We believe daily bread from the Bible is essential for everyday life and we want to offer that Bible to everyone.  It is God’s word given to man to use, to learn and grow and thrive. But, unfortunately, Bibles in this region are hard to get, especially for orphans whom have no one to help them thrive. Some communities only have pages of the bible and each family will gather together and memorize and study the pages they have. At Standing with Orphans, we want to feed the children more than rice. We want to feed them with the word of God.

We believe Bible is the foundation of our faith and life. Bible is the best and incomparable book of God and His wisdom that gives light to our paths. We pray that every orphan should not only have their physical bodies fed, but also their spiritual! These children have almost nothing that belongs to them personally.  However, now they each will have their very own Bible that they can put their own name in and call their own. We want these children to see the Word of God with their own eyes, and whisper his words in their minds and pray to the Lord at night using God’s words.

Several of our orphanages have different languages. Therefore, we will be sending each orphan in our supported orphanages, a Bible in their own tongue.

This is a new program for us at Standing with Orphans. The cost to buy 1 new Bible is about $8, including the price of transportation.  Currently, we have 222 children in our orphanages that we are starting this current mission for. If you or someone you know wishes to contribute to put a Bible in a orphans hand, you can go to the bottom of one of our pages and click the yellow donate button..  ( Please be sure to express in the note that you want the money used for Bible)

Education and Skills Training

In this region, most of the orphanage caretakers have never received official training in their fields. They work as employees of a business without the skills or proper training needed in the medical or childcare fields to insure the children thrive.

Therefore, Standing with Orphans is committed to helping our orphanages under our commitment to improve the standard of life in the orphanages. We will be advocates of physical, mental, and the spiritual growth of these children. We believe that education is the key element needed to give the children “Big” Hope of a future.

Therefore, we are now putting together workshops in Myanmar to help train the caretakers of the children in medical and caretaking fields.

The training workshops will have 3 objectives:

First, trainers will provide training in the field of  basic children caretaking, and healthy living. Mission minded professionals in education or healthcare could travel with us to host one of these 3-4 day workshops.

Second, we will train the caretakers in preparing the children to focus on education such as giving them enough time to study, homework assistance program, and supply study materials.

Finally, we will start motivating the children towards education thru the implementation of school study scholarships. We will select the top 2 students elementary, middle, and high school and award these top 6 students in the orphanages with scholarship incentives.

Scholarship for College

A successful life in Myanmar starts with a high school diploma.  Every child must pass the high school exit exam to graduate.  Just a few percentage of children in the orphanages are able to pass the exam. We are preparing for those students who successfully pass the high school exam to enroll in college. These students are our future and will be responsible for taking care of the  next generation of needy children in the orphanages. This is a big stepping stone as we raise the bar and invest in ministry for the future. If it’s God will, we pray that the young people who graduate from theological schools will go into the mission fields, such as engineering and medical schools and lay the foundation for the next generation of orphans in this region.

Scholarship for Skill-Work Training

In Myanmar, the education program is centralized.  All children take the same exam to exit high school. This exam must be passed to receive a diploma. A diploma is critical in Myanmar as in all over the world. However, all children do not receive the same benefits. The children in the cities have the best teachers and teacher to student ratios. The children in the remote areas do not have these benefits, and the children of Chin State are at the top of this inequality. For example,  in Chin State generally about only 15% could pass the high school exam. Therefore about 85%  DO NOT pass! The orphans of the remote regions are harder hit than most other children that do not pass this test. The orphans that do not pass the test, have no optimistic reality for their future, and most will be expected to leave the orphanages and begin their lives, without a family support unit.

Therefore, we recognize that many of the students will need a program to help those students who do not pass the centralized test, to learn a skills set. This program is like the JobCorps. The training will be for a couple of years per choice of program. This students will be shown how to “catch a fish” as to, “be given a fish”  We will utilize families that want to sponsor a child monthly to give the student the specialized skills. This program will soon be unveiled.

Orphanage Conference

As to date, there has never been a orphanage conference in Myanmar. We are serious about orphans and their future. We want to be a part of their success. We are their voice. We are designing a conference that will help us bridge the gap between the needs of the orphans in these orphanages and a successful future. We want to give these orphans a path and future that is outlined in victory.  This conference will bring us together on the same page (of all t
