Our Mission

At “Standing with Orphans” We are focusing on the  basic needs of orphaned children.   Many of these orphanages in Myanmar have been struggling for food and clothing.  In general, most orphanages in this region only have enough rice to feed the children once daily.  Myanmar is one of the poorest countries on Earth.

Therefore, once we decide to start sponsoring a orphanage we try to outfit each child with a mosquito net to prevent disease and at the same time, we send several 100 lb rice bags for immediate aid.   Then, the orphanage will receive regular aid from “Standing with Orphans” when we make our quarterly aid shipments.  This aid is critical for these orphanages.  By providing the rice for the children, the orphanages are able to take care of the other basic needs of these children that normally they would go without, such as clothing and medical!

Here is how and where your money is used.  You can donate at the Morgan County Community Foundation cfmconline.org thru “417 “Standing with Orphans”.   Or you may now donate thru this site on the “Get Involved” paged.  This is a 501C3 registered organization and your donations are tax deductible.

We have set up a network of Christian pastors in the areas surrounding the orphanages that will receive the donated money. The pastors and transporters do not work for payment. Everything is done without charge to benefit the children. Then, every 3-4 months, we will distribute and send the pastors enough money to buy the rice or sometimes additional needs. The quantity of rice bags is given per number of children in the orphanage.  Typical average orphanages will receive 1200 to 1500 lbs of rice each quarter.  The pastors then will purchase the rice bags and transport to each of our orphanages.

The pastors will then photograph the rice shipments as it is received by our orphans and send pictures of the orphans with the rice to post to our donors.

Standing with Orphans goes beyond the purchase and distribution of rice. We also support each orphanage with mosquito netting for each child. Most of these children sleep on the floor in the orphanages. We buy a large mosquito nets that can be hung from the ceiling and completely encloses each child on the floor as they sleep. In this region, thousands die each year from the spread of diseases such as malaria from the bite of the deadly Asian tiger mosquito or diarrhea from drinking dirty water. The children are always elated when they receive their mosquito nets to protect them while they sleep.   Every other year,  I will revisit these orphanages. Upon visits, I will supply each orphanage with a need other than rice such as solar panels for electricity, school supplies, winter clothing, and even built a brick outhouse (restroom). These visits are also used to scout the area for new orphanages for the mission to support.

There are many circumstances that have risen where a particular orphanage has an immediate need. The orphanage fund has then used funds to take care of these additional immediate needs.  Past immediate needs have been:

In 2014, we built a brick outhouse when the existing restroom was destroyed by floods for Pinelle Childrens Home.  see below.

In 2017, we sent large quantities of new blankets to Ephraim Orphanage, which was a new orphanage for us, to get them thru the winter months. see below

In 2015 a monsoon season was very violent and floods destroyed much of the towns in our operating region. The rice crops were destroyed. This fund sent thousands of pounds of bagged rice to the local families that were living in temporary tents. see below

In 2017, we sent funds to each orphanage to buy each child a new piece of clothing for Christmas.   Clothing among orphanages is always worn and handed down.

In 2017, one of our orphanages that rented the building was evicted and forced to live in a church temporarily.  We conducted a special building drive and raised the funds in 3 days to build a new orphanage on land that was given to them. Today, that orphanage has its own brick building to call home.  This orphanage was dedicated to my late grandfather, who died during this process and spent his life doing missions for orphanages in the phillipines. see below

These are only a few of the immediate needs this fund has provided.

THE NEED:
The biggest need is that of faithful monthly donors.

A 100 lb bag of rice can be delivered to an orphanage for $25 US dollars. A bag will last an entire orphanage over a week.  This fund is unlike most all non-profits.  We do not take a cent from the donors and there is no payment of salaries. All our work is done because of our passion for these children. We believe the Lord wants all orphans to be fed. This is why we have grown so rapidly. We are feeding all the orphanages that we can and we rely on the Lord to provide the funds to do this. But, there are many orphanages we have not found yet. My return trips will scout these orphanages that are in dire need. We will then begin aiding them as well. But it is critical that the Lords church come along side this mission to provide the funds to do this.
